Heavy metal frontman undergoes spine surgery at Tristate Neurosurgical Associates

Jeremy Damron, frontman for the heavy metal band Volcano, has undergone a posterior lumbar implant fusion at Tristate Neurosurgical Associates in Owensboro, Ky., according to a Feb. 21 report from Vice.

Mr. Damron met with a neurosurgeon on Feb. 21 and was prepped for emergency surgery the next day. 

He has been suffering from degenerative disc disease for 10 years, causing nerve pain, drop foot and severe inflammatory arthritis in the lumbar spine.

Due to the pain, the frontman has been unable to perform with the band. It will likely take him one year to fully recover, according to the report.
