Mauricio A. Valdes, MD, a spine physician, joined the University Physicians Healthcare and the faculty of the University of Arizona department of orthopedics in Tucson, according to a report from Tucson Business.
Dr. Valdes has a clinical interest in diagnosis and treatment of neck and back pain caused by conditions such as disc herniation, degenerative disease and arthritis. He is trained in several treatment methods, including steroid injections, vertebroplasty, kyphonplasty and minimally invasive reconstructive spinal surgery.
He earned his medical degree from Javeriana University in Bogota, Colombia, and completed his orthopedic surgery and training at Brown University and Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. His additional training includes fellowships in orthopedic trauma and spine surgery.
