Chris Bono, MD, is chief of the Brigham and Women's Hospital and is an assistant professor in the department of orthopedic surgery. Dr. Bono specializes in orthopedic surgery with his clinical interests including herniated disc management, spinal stenosis, spinal surgery, spine fractures and spondylolisthesis.
Dr. Bono has published over 55 peer-reviewed articles and 100 book chapters. He has additionally edited two spinal surgery textbooks. Dr. Bono's work has been recognized both nationally and internationally. His honors include Partners in Excellence Aware (Spine Instrumentation Program), Best Doctors of America as well as several research awards. He is presently a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Spinal Injury Association, International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine, North American Spine Society and International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery. Dr. Bono is a member of the Board of Directors of the North American Spine Society.
Dr. Bono serves as the deputy editor of the Spine Journal and the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is currently serving as editorial and peer reviewer for the Journal of Spinal Disorders and Techniques, Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery and Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma.
Dr. Bono attended State University of New York Health Science Center in Brooklyn in 1996. He then completed his orthopedic residency in 2001 at the University of Medicine and Dentist of New Jersey Medical School. Dr. Bono completed his fellowship at the University of California in San Diego in spine surgery in 2002. He was certified in orthopedic surgery in 2004.
