Neurosurgeon Drew Spencer, MD, joined the Edwards Neurosciences Institute in Naperville, Ill., according to the Chicago Tribune.

1. Dr. Spencer specializes in treating malignant and benign brain and spinal tumors. His clinical and research interests include intracranial and spinal tumors and transitional therapy for brain tumors.
2. Dr. Spencer completed fellowship training at the University of Chicago Brain Tumor Center.
3. After earning his medical degree from Springfield-based Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, Dr. Spencer completed his residency at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill.
4. During his residency, Dr. Spencer rotated between the Chicago-based Loyola University Medical Center, Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago and Edward Hines (Ill.) Veterans Administration Hospital.
5. Dr. Spencer is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, Society for Neuro-Oncology and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
