At about 10 a.m., authorities learned of “vague but concerning statements” made against an employee, Scarborough police said in a statement. Maine Medical Neurosurgery & Spine and two other Maine Medical locations — all part of Portland-based MaineHealth — went on lockdown for about 90 minutes while police investigated.

A MaineHealth spokesperson confirmed the incident and lockdown in a statement to Becker’s Nov. 8.

“MMP appreciates the quick action taken by the care team member who received the threats as well as the response from Scarborough Police,” the statement said.

Authorities continue to investigate and are working with Maine Medical Center staff and administration, police said.
