Here are four insights.

1. Michael Wang, MD, and his team worked on the approach for 15 years. He developed the approach for high-risk patients, including older patients who have a greater complication risk

2. The approach includes several components, including sedation without intubation, eliminating the need for general anesthesia.

3. Dr. Wang and his team also use Novocain to control pain and perform the spine surgery with minimally invasive endoscopic techniques.

4. U of Miami began offering the new approach to patients four years ago, and has seen continued success.
