William Raasch, MD, team physician for the Milwaukee Brewers, is working with pitcher Zack Greinke to return him to play after he suffered a cracked rib, according to a Journal Sentinel news report.
Mr. Greinke cracked his rib while playing basketball. An initial X-ray didn't show a cracked rib, but a subsequent MRI has been scheduled. He will be out of play until the rib heals, which could take four to six weeks, according to Dr. Raasch.
While the bone is healing, Mr. Greinke and the medical team will try to keep his rotator cuff and arm strong. He will also complete cardiovascular work outs. When the rib has healed, Mr. Greinke will need to build his arm up again.
