Sports medicine leaders travel to Italy for fellowship: 4 takeaways

Orthopedic Sports Medicine

The American Medical Society for Sports Medicine is sending several physicians to Italy as part of its third annual International Traveling Fellowship Program.

Here's what you should know.

1. AMSSM Founder and past president Rob Johnson, MD, is leading the fellowship, accompanied by Junior Traveling Fellows Andy Peterson, MD, and John Wilson, MD.

2. The fellowship allows for sports medicine physicians to learn the craft on a global level.

3. The fellows will spend several days in Rome, and will reconnect with Arsenio Veicsteinas, MD, and Maurizio Casasco, MD, who traveled to the U.S. through the AMSSM earlier in the year.

4. While in Italy, the sports medicine physicians will participate in the XXXV Federazione Medico Sportivo Italiana National Congress, and will visit Italy's top sports medicine universities.
