Olympic dreams realized — Dr. Eugene Roh a Team USA physician

Orthopedic Sports Medicine

Eugene Roh, MD, was inspired by the 1988 Olympic games to become a sports medicine physician. Thirty years later and he's at the Pyeongchang Olympics as a Team USA physician.

Here's what you should know:

 

1. Dr. Roh is an orthopedic surgeon at Stanford (Calif.) University.

 

2. He is serving as a physician for ice rink competitions.

 

3. Dr. Roh said of the athletes, "Their discipline and passion about what they like to do is inspiring. It's not easy work. In those moments where we all feel settled in life, and get a little lazy, we look to athletes who inspire us to catapult ourselves to the next level."

 

4. After earning his medical degree from Seoul, Korea-based Yonsei University, he completed two residencies, one at Stanford and the other at Framingham-based University of Massachusetts. He completed a fellowship at Boston-based Harvard University.
