Robert LaPrade, MD, PhD, surpassed 400 peer reviewed studies. Dr. LaPrade is a complex orthopedic knee and sports medicine surgeon at Vail, Colo.-based The Steadman Clinic.

1. At the 2017 American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine Annual Meeting, Dr. LaPrade was recognized with the Cabaud Memorial Award for his work on how the use of platelet-rich plasma immediately post-injury to accelerate ligament healing was not successful in an in vivo animal model. This award is given to the best manuscript submission pertaining to hard or soft tissue biology, in vitro research, laboratory, bench or in vivo animal research.
2. In 2014, Dr. LaPrade's study "Posterior Cruciate Ligament Graft Fixation Angles, Part I and Part II" won the Excellence in Research Award from the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, which led to the acceptance of double bundle PCL reconstructions as the gold standard of treating PCL tears.
3. Dr. LaPrade has now published more than 400 peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts with over 12,000 citations and 125 book chapters. He received the OREF Clinical Research Award, which is considered a Nobel Prize in the field of orthopedics.
4. Overall, Dr. LaPrade is the most published author in the American Journal of Sports Medicine, having published 130 articles in AJSM. He is the sole author of the only comprehensive textbook on posterolateral knee injuries and has edited several sports medicine textbooks.
5. Dr. LaPrade has treated athletes at all levels, including Olympic, professional, semi-professional and intercollegiate athletes.
6. Dr. LaPrade also serves as CMO and co-director of the Sports Medicine Fellowship Program at the Steadman Philippon Research Institute.
