DMC announced plans in June 2018 to develop the 50,000-square-foot center in partnership with Olympia Development of Michigan.

The system cited challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic as the reason for dropping the plan.

“Stay-at-home orders and restrictions prohibiting elective procedures caused hospitals everywhere to reevaluate their core services,” according to a DMC statement obtained by WXYZ. “Our decision allows us to reallocate resources appropriately in this changing environment.”
