1. Orr Limpisvasti, MD, repaired Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield's torn labrum.

2. The Pittsburgh Pirates named a new director of orthopedics from within. Darren Frank, MD, who was an assistant team physician for 10 years, was named director of orthopedics.

3. New York Jets offensive lineman Cameron Clark is retiring at age 24 after suffering a spinal cord injury that sidelined him for the 2021 season. The prognosis came from Andrew Hecht, MD, of New York City-based Mount Sinai.

4. Egan Bernal, winner of the 2019 Tour de France, had a second spine surgery Feb. 2, nine days after he was rushed to hospital following a high-speed collision with a parked bus while training.

5. New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery named Marci Goolsby, MD, and Beth Shubin Stein, MD, as co-directors of the HSS Women's Sports Medicine Center.

6. Robert McCune, who played for the Washington Commanders, pleaded guilty to submitting false claims to the Gene Upshaw NFL Player Health Reimbursement Account Plan for himself and on behalf of several other retired NFL players. He was sentenced to five years in prison.
