Dr. Kremchek will receive the 2010 Outstanding Team Physician for High School Athletics award given by the Ohio Medical Association and OHSAA. He has dedicated himself to the teams by spending Friday nights on the sidelines and Saturday mornings at a year-round injury clinic he started, according to a Community Press report.

“The idea was to catch these high school athletes when they get hurt, evaluate them, treat them and get them back on the field,” said Mr. Kremchek in the report. “It can be a tiring task to be here on Saturday mornings after working every week but it’s something you have to do to give back to the community and these kids.”

Dr. Kremchek has a professional interest in knee and shoulder arthroscopies as well as joint reconstruction and replacement. He regularly contributes scholarly work to professional journals in orthopedics and sports medicine. He has also shared his expertise with ESPN Magazine, Sports Illustrated, USA Today and HBO’s Real Sports program regarding youth baseball injuries.

Dr. Kremchek’s professional affiliations include the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, the American Sports Medicine Institute, the International Hockey League Medical Association and the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He maintains a teaching appointment at Good Samaritan Hospital and the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Dr. Kremchek earned his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati and completed his chief residency at New England Baptist Hospital in Boston. He also completed a fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Ala.
