Dr. Harry Genant Wins Inaugural Science Award From International Osteoporosis Foundation

International Osteoporosis Foundation announced that Harry Genant, MD, professor emeritus of the University of California San Francisco, has been named the winner of its inaugural Olof Johnell Science Award.
The award is granted in recognition of extraordinary contributions to the field of osteoporosis in a scientific or policy implementation area. It was presented at the European Congress on Osteoporosis and Osteoarthritis being held in Rome, Italy, April 17-20, 2013.

Dr. Genet earned his medical degree from Northwestern University in Chicago. He joined UCSF in 1974, where he founded the osteoporosis and arthritis research group in the department of radiology at UCSF and served as its executive director. He is the associate editor of Bone and on the editorial boards of Osteoporosis International and the Journal of Clinical Densitometry. He has served as president of the Association of University Radiologists and president of the International Skeletal Society.
