Many physicians reported feeling "cautiously optimistic" about the new pay-for-performance payment models, as found in a Fidelity Investments and the National Business Group on Health survey, according to HealthCare Business.
The report surveyed 500 practicing physicians on their opinions concerning new payment and delivery systems as well as the current payment model.
Here are five things to know:
1. Forty-one percent of physicians believe the fee-for-serve model is the best model for delivering positive patient outcomes. Of the physicians under 35, only 28 percent believe the model is ideal for obtaining good patient outcomes.

3. When the survey asked physicians to rate the top benefit of the new payment models, physicians listed "positive impact on patient health."
4. Fifty-five percent reported they participate in some form of an alternative payment model and more than 33 percent have participated in one for more the three years.
5. Of those polled, 80 percent said they would consider participating in a new payment model in the future.
