Former Forest Park Medical Center to reopen as total joint replacement facility: 5 takeaways

Practice Management

Texas Health Resources are in the process of reopening the Fort Worth-based Forest Park Medical Center as an orthopedic clinic specializing in total joint replacement and rehabilitation, The Star-Telegram reports.

Here's what you should know.

1. The 150,000 square foot facility will be renamed Texas Health Hospital Clearfork, and will be licensed under Texas Health Southwest.

2. Texas Health Resources paid $121 million for the campus in May. The hospital has 54 beds with 12 operating rooms.

3. The hospital will operate as a full-service medical facility with an emergency room, but it will specialize in joint replacement.

4. Orthopedic surgeons from the Texas Hip and Knee Center at Texas Health Southwest will staff the center.

5. The former Forest Park Medical Center failed after attempting to only serve "wealthier patients with private insurance and not Medicare or Medicaid coverage."
