Chicago Blackhawks' physician Dr. Ari Levy launches comprehensive healthcare startup — 10 highlights

Chicago Blackhawks' internal medicine physician Ari Levy, MD, MBA, founded startup SHIFT, to offer a comprehensive, patient-tailored healthcare experience, according to ChicagoInno.

Here are 10 highlights:

 

1. Blackhawks players receive a rounded-out healthcare experience, with an emphasis on diet, strength training and recovery. Dr. Levy wanted to bring this same comprehensive healthcare to all patients.

 

2. Dr. Levy said the mission of SHIFT is to encourage people to lead healthier lifestyles.

 

3. The SHIFT healthcare facility will open in 2017 in Chicago's River North neighborhood, housing a two-level suite. The space will hold a medical suite, training room, yoga studio, recovery center, locker rooms and café.

 

4. The center will likely staff between 25 and 30 employees.

 

5. SHIFT will call on the expertise of physicians, coaches, fitness trainers, nutritionists and recovery specialists.

 

6. Upon arrival to SHIFT, a person will undergo an assessment by a physician and dietitian, receiving biometric and psychometric tests.

 

7. SHIFT will then build a customized plan that fits a person's schedule and meets their health needs.

 

8. Dr. Levy noted anyone is welcome to participate in SHIFT, but those with chronic conditions may especially find benefit from the compressive program.

 

9. SHIFT has not yet released any price points.

 

10. So far, the startup has received $3 million in outside funding.
