Southeast Orthopedic Specialists in Jacksonville, Fla., will pay the government $4.4 million to settle False Claims Act violation allegations, according to a News 4 Jax report.

1. The Department of Justice reported Southeast Orthopedic Specialists allegedly billed federal healthcare programs for services that weren't medically necessary.

 

2. The alleged issues with the practice's billing include the practice reporting it met meaningful use criteria when the standards were not met.
