Hospital for Special Surgery partners with Global Healthcare Alliance for bundled payments: 5 things to know

New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery partnered with Global Healthcare Alliance on value-based care contracts for musculoskeletal services.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. Under the contract, Global Healthcare Alliance will manage bundled payment administration for Hospital for Special Surgery and its affiliated facilities and providers. The bundle will extend to domestic and international care.

 

2. Global Healthcare Alliance has more than 30 years of experience in care management and currently serves more than 1,000 healthcare providers and employer organizations by operating value-based reimbursement programs and clinical Centers of Excellence.

 

3. Hospital for Special Surgery provides orthopedic care across the spectrum, including total joint replacement, spine surgery, pediatric orthopedic care and rheumatology. U.S. News & World Report ranked the hospital No. 1 in orthopedics for 2016-17.

 

4. Founded in 1863, the hospital is among the country's oldest focusing on orthopedics. Surgeons at the hospital perform around 29,000 orthopedic surgeries annually.

 

5. In addition to treating patients, HSS surgeons conduct research and have access to large patient population data as well as cutting-edge clinical trials. The hospital's physicians also treat professional athletes and serve as team physicians for the New York Giants, Mets, Knicks and Brooklyn Nets.
