Modernizing Medicine sends 3.4k providers' PQRS data for quality reporting: 5 things to know

Practice Management

Modernizing Medicine submitted 3,438 providers' 2016 Physician Quality Reporting System data to CMS, according to a report in The Digital Journal.

Here are five things to know:

1. Most of the provider data was submitted through Modernizing Medicine's PQRS qualified registry. Around 95 percent of the company's clients submitting data met the PQRS minimum requirements.

2. Modernizing Medicine's cloud-based EHR calculates the PQRS measure data automatically after physicians enter patient data into a native iPad application. Physicians and staff don't need to enter data into a third party system to submit for PQRS.

"Having PQRS functionality in EMA helped lower unnecessary administrative burdens for doctors and their practices, reducing physician burnout," said Michael Sherling, MD, co-founder and chief medical officer of Modernizing Medicine.

3. Modernizing Medicine's Meaningful Use Safeguard Services and PQRS Coaching have helped providers successfully report. The Meaningful Use Safeguard Services clients report 96.6 percent success rate and those with PQRS Coaching report 100 percent success rate.

The company's gAdvisor for the gGastro EHR by gMed, a Modernizing Medicine company, reported 99.5 percent success rate.

4. The Merit-based Incentive Payment System replaced PQRS in 2017 and Modernizing Medicine's EMA solution is among the first EHR systems to include built in MIPS intelligence. The platform also includes advisory services and the modmed Pledge.

5. The company plans to continue innovating to improve reporting efficiency. "The MIPS automation built into EMA captures the required data for CMS reporting without difficulty and I'm even able to view my score in real-time," said ophthalmologist Randy Burks, MD, of Ophthalmology Consultants in Margate, Fla. "EMA has made what seems like an overwhelming process quite simple."
