J.W. Thomas Byrd, MD, and Tania A. Ferguson, MD, merged to form the Nashville (Tenn.) Hip Institute, formerly known as the Nashville (Tenn.) Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center.

1. Dr. Ferguson specializes in hip preservation and pelvis reconstruction. As a specialty trained hip surgeon, Dr. Ferguson is known for her work in acetabular fracture surgery, reorientation osteotomies for hip dysplasia and the anterior approach total hip arthroplasty.

 

2. Dr. Ferguson represents the AO Foundation as the first elected female trustee and has an National Institutes of Health K30 master's degree in advanced clinical research.

 

3. Seeing patients all over the world for hip deformities, revision surgery, and pelvis and acetabulum fractures, Dr. Ferguson has published numerous scholarly publications, book chapters and online education programs.

 

4. Dr. Byrd founded the Nashville Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center and is a pioneer for hip arthroscopy techniques.
