Joseph Meyer, MD, a pain management specialist and partner at Columbia (Mo.) Interventional Pain Center will be conducting a study that examines patients who have found relief from chronic pain, according a Columbia Daily Tribune report.
He will conduct the study along with his wife, Leslie Meyer, and pain psychologist Craig Rooney of Center for Family & Individual Counseling in Columbia, Mo. By searching for patterns in the ways patients overcome pain, they hope to establish categories for pain and pain management. Researchers have explored how pain manifests itself but Meyer said he hasn't seen any that examines those who have found relief, according to the report.
