Spine Surgeon Leader to Know: Dr. Srdjan Mirkovic of Northwestern Orthopaedic Institute

Srdjan Mirkovic, MD, is an orthopedic spine surgeon practicing at Northwestern Orthopaedic Institute in Chicago. He is on staff at Evanston, Ill.-based NorthShore University HealthSystem and Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. He is an associate professor of orthopedic surgery at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.

Dr. Mirkovic is an active member of the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons, North American Spine Society, International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine and the International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery. He has received the Outstanding Spine Research Award from the North American Spine Society twice. He is also a spine consultant for the Chicago Bears and Chicago Fire professional soccer team.

 

Dr. Mirkovic is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons.  His clinical interests include spinal stenosis management, lumbar spinal fusions, cervical spine disease management, cervical fusions, artificial disc replacement, complex spinal surgeries, including laminectomies, microscopic disc surgery, spinal tumors and minimally invasive techniques.

 

Dr. Mirkovic earned his medical degree at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C., and completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He also completed a fellowship in spine surgery at the University of California San Diego Medical Center.
