Gowriharan Thaiyananthan, MD, is board-certified neurosurgeon and the founder and medical director of the Brain and Spine Institute of California at Chapman Medical Center. He is also founder and chief neurosurgeon of BASIC Spine. He focuses on new surgical techniques and instrumentation for degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis and scoliosis treatment. He is also an active researcher and has had numerous articles, book chapters and abstracts published on various spine topics.

Dr. Thaiyananthan is co-medical director at the Southern California Center for Neuroscience and Spine at Chapman Medical Center in Orange, Calif. He earned his medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco. He completed a surgical internship and neurosurgery residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital and a combined neurosurgery and orthopedic fellowship at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles.

He is active in the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons and North American Society of Spine Surgery, Orange County Medical Association and Indian Medical Association. Follow Dr. Ty on Google+
