Spine Surgeon Leader to Know: Dr. Jeffery Wang of the UCLA Spine Center

Jeffery Wang, MD, is the co-director of the UCLA Spine Center in Santa Monica, Calif., and a professor of orthopedic surgery and neurosurgery at UCLA. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Cervical Spine Research Society. He is also the editor-in-chief of Global Spine Journal.
Dr. Wang specializes in back surgery, disc degeneration, disc herniation, endoscopic spine surgery and lumbar tumor surgery. His research interests include gene therapy for the treatment of spinal disorders, minimally invasive surgery for spinal disorders and bone growth biological proteins.

"Seeing a grateful patient and having the ability to see improvement in their life, is the most basic reason why one goes into spine surgery and is at the foundation of why we become physicians," said Dr. Wang in a Becker's Spine Review article.

Dr. Wang earned his medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the UCLA School of Medicine and a fellowship in spine and spinal cord injury at University Hospitals of Cleveland.
