Dr. Andrew Cordover, Spine Surgeon leaderAndrew Cordover, MD, is a spine surgeon at of Andrews Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center in Birmingham, Ala. He is also a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and North American Spine Society. He has been on advisory committees for companies and has developed spinal implants himself.
Dr. Cordover's specialties include sports related spine injuries, complex spine pathologies, tumors, trauma, failed previous surgeries and revision surgeries of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. He was in practice for 12 years before merging his practice with Andrews Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center.

"It's important for me as a spine surgeon to stay involved with the continued development of outcomes measures that are appropriate for our specialty," said Dr. Cordover in a Becker's Spine Review article. "We also must have a voice in new technology because if it doesn't improve quality, limits will be placed on us due to cost cutting measures."

Dr. Cordover earned his medical degree at Tulane University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at Hahnemann University Hospital and a fellowship in spine surgery at Duke University in Durham, N.C.
