AOSSM Appoints First Female President, Dr. Jo Hannafin

Orthopedic Sports Medicine

The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine has announced the appointment of Jo A. Hannafin, MD, PhD, board-certified orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine physician, as its 42nd and first female president.


She currently serves as the director of orthopedic research at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York and a professor of orthopedic surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York.

 

 

Dr. Hannafin has previously held a number of AOSSM positions including vice president, secretary of the board and chair of the enduring education and research committees.

 

Dr. Hannafin will assume her new position July 13 at the AOSSM annual meeting in Chicago.
