The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine has granted the late William Grana, MD, MPH, its 2013 Robert E. Leach Mr. Sports Medicine award.
During his career, Dr. Grana held several leadership positions including editor-in-chief of Orthopaedic Knowledge Online and head of the orthopedic surgery department of the University of Arizona in Tucson.
The Robert E. Leach Mr. Sports Medicine award is given to an individual for significant contributions to sports medicine and includes a $5,000 donation to a charity of the winner's choice.
The award was granted to Dr. Grana, the 40th recipient of the award, during the AOSSM annual meeting.
