Jersey City (N.J.) Medical Center, an RWJBarnabas Health affiliate, has added a Mako robot for total hip and knee replacements to its orthopedic program.
The center's first Mako procedures were performed by Robert Kayal, MD, Victor Ortiz, MD, and Gerald Andah, MD, surgeons at Kayal Orthopedic Center in Glen Rock, N.J., according to a July 27 news release from the health system.
The Mako robot allows for more surgical precision, a longer-lasting implant, less pain and faster recovery times, the release said.
RWJBarnabas Health is based in West Orange, N.J.
