Charles Theofilos, MD, is a neurosurgeon and founder of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.-based The Spine Center.
Dr. Theofilos specializes in surgical, minimally invasive and non-surgical treatment options for a range of cervical and spine problems, including stem cell therapy and artificial disc replacement. Dr. Theofilos was among 20 leading neurosurgeons and orthopedic surgeons in the U.S. chosen to participate in the Flexicore and Cervicore Intervertebral Artificial Disc study, which compared the clinical outcome of disc replacement to traditional spinal fusion.
He served as chairman of neurosurgery and chairman of cranial and spinal surgery at Atlantis, Fla.-based JFK Medical Center, making medical history by performing the BAK interbody fusion surgery live on the internet which was viewed by hundreds of physicians.
Dr. Theofilos was recognized by the Consumer Research Council of America as one of "America's Top Surgeons for Neurosurgery." He has invented and patented several spine products used in spine surgeries worldwide, including the Uni-T Pedicle Screw System, Santorini Corpectomy Fusion Cage and Chesapeake Offset and Inline Stand Alone Fusion System.
Dr. Theofilos received his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. Dr. Theofilos is a widely sought after educator and lecturer, and has been featured as a guest and medical commentator on major television networks. In addition to having The Spine Center offices in Palm Beach Gardens and Port St. Lucie, Fla., he serves as the medical director of spine surgery at Jupiter (Fla.) Medical Center.
