U.K.-based Invibio now has 500 PEEK-OPTIMA biomaterial devices cleared for commercial use in the U.S. and more than 80 in China. In 1999, PEEK-OPTIMA became one of the world's first replacements of metal in spinal devices and implants for interbody fusion cages. Invibio now develops PEEK-OPTIMA products for lumbar and cervical fusion as well as total disc replacement, spinal rods and interspinous devices, according to the release.
