Spine Leaders

Nimesh H. Patel, MD, is a neurosurgeon at Methodist Moody Brain and Spine Institute in Dallas. He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, North American Spine Society and Congress of Neurological Surgeons. He has been published in the Journal of Neurosurgery and The Spine Journal.
Dr. Patel is certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. His clinical interests include malignant brain tumors, minimally invasive spine surgery and complex spinal reconstruction. He is also a recipient of the CINN Foundation neuroscience research grant.

"Minimally invasive techniques were historically used for diagnosis only. But technology advances have allowed us to improve the treatment of spine disorders using the same techniques for surgery," said Dr. Patel in a Becker's Spine Review article. "It's one of the biggest advantages for patients because we are able to do spinal procedures with smaller incisions, which means less pain and blood loss. Hospital stays are also shorter."

Dr. Patel earned his medical degree at the University of Louisville (Ky.) Medical School. He completed his residency at Rush University Hospital in Chicago.
