California
The Hoag Orthopedic Institute Surgery Center Beverly Hills added the Globus spine robot, making it the first dedicated spine robot in Hoag's network.
Hafiz Kassam, MD, a shoulder surgeon affiliated with Irvine-based Hoag Orthopedic Institute, completed the state's first robotic assisted reverse shoulder arthroplasty.
Indiana
David Schwartz, MD, and Craig McMains, MD, of Indianapolis-based OrthoIndy Hospital, performed the first procedures using Alphatec's EOS Insight, an end-to-end platform for spine surgery.
Iowa
Surgery Center Cedar Rapids added Stryker's Mako robot for total knee and hip replacement, making it the only center in the area to add robotic technology for joint replacements.
Florida
West Palm Beach-based HCA Florida JFK North Hospital became the first facility in the county to add X-ray vision spine surgery technology.
Minnesota
Rochester-based Mayo Clinic became the first facility to use Zimmer Biomet's Rosa Shoulder robot.
Mississippi
Orthopedic surgeon Phillip Myers, DO, of Singing River Orthopedics in Ocean Springs, became the first surgeon in the state to perform surgery using an augmented reality technology called HipInsight.
New Jersey
Neurosurgeons with Hackensack-based New Jersey Brain and Spine completed the state's first surgeries using Augmedics' xvision system in December 2023.
New York
New York saw the state's first use of augmented reality-guided technology in a spinal tumor surgery. Daniel Sciubba, MD, of Northwell Health in Thomaston, performed the procedure using Augmedics' xvision system, which allows the surgeon to see the patient's anatomy through skin and tissue during surgery.
Texas
In May, Paul Chin, MD, PhD, an orthopedic surgeon at The Woodlands-based Sterling Ridge Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, became the first in the state to use Medacta's NextAR shoulder augmented reality surgical platform.
