The Advocate Brain and Spine Institute at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Ill., is the first hospital in the state to offer the Mazor X Robotic Guidance System for spine surgery, the Chicago Tribune reports.
Here are three things to know:
1. The system allows for preoperative planning through a 3D simulation of the patient's spine.
2. Computer analytics provide surgeons with data for procedure planning and intraoperative guidance.
3. The system is designed for complex spine reconstructions as well as minimally invasive procedures.
