The University of Pittsburgh opened the Pittsburgh Collaborative Research Education and Technology Enhancement in Surgery Center, the Pittsburgh Business Times reports.
Here are three things to know.
1. Pittsburgh Creates will work directly with industry partners to further minimally invasive surgical techniques.
2. The 10,000-square-foot center operates on the first floor of UPMC's Eye and Ear Institute. Pitt raised about $3 million for the center.
3. Medrobotics is Pittsburgh Creates' first partnering company. The new center's medical director Umamaheswar Duvvuri, MD, PhD, said that the center aims to formalize six partnerships by the end of 2018.
