Insurance company Highmark has recruited Richard Spiro, MD, and Michael Horowitz, MD, previously of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center to work at the PA Brain and Spine Institute of Butler (Pa.) Memorial Hospital, according to a Trib Live report. Dr. Spiro was the director and chief of neurological spine surgery at UPMC. Dr. Horowitz was the director of vascular and endovascular neurosurgery and of the Center for Cranial Nerve Disorders at UPMC.
Highmark is currently establishing a health system designed to compete with UPMC.
