SI-BONE shares spine surgery data with YODA in new partnership
SI-BONE partnered with the Yale University Open Data Access Project to share data from the company's clinical trials. SI-BONE is sharing data from the Sacroiliac Joint Fusion With iFuse Implant System and plans to share data from two more trials over the next six months.
Surgeons use Life Spine's PROLIFT system in 1st cases
Huntley, Ill.-based Life Spine completed its initial cases with its PROLIFT Expandable Interbody System. The system is designed to restore disc height in-situ for minimally invasive PLIF, TLIF and oblique approaches. Life Spine will launch a limited release in the second quarter of 2016, with a full release later in 2016.

Physician medical group acquisition decreased in the first quarter of 2016 when compared with the last quarter of 2015. Deal volume dropped 18 percent from the fourth quarter of 2015; there were just 18 transactions announced in the first quarter. First quarter physician medical group acquisitions dropped 25 percent when compared to the same period last year.
FDA clears Xtant Medical's Certex Spinal Fixation System for new indication
The cleared indication expands the use of the Certex screws for use in the posterior cervical spine. It is now indicated for implantation using a posterior approach at the craniocervical junction, the cervical spine and the thoracic spine.
US Army awards Medical College of Wisconsin grant for spine safety research
The U.S. Army awarded Milwaukee-based Medical College of Wisconsin a five-year, $6.8 million grant to study neck, spine and brain safety issues. Neurosurgery professor Narayan Yoganandan, PhD, and Chief of Research and neurosurgery professor Frank A. Pintar, PhD, will head the study.
