Dominick A. Tuason, MD, and Thomas McPartland, MD, instituted a rapid recovery protocol for adolescent scoliosis patients at New Brunswick, N.J.-based Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, My Central Jersey reports.
Here are three things to know:
1. Rapid Recovery Pathway aims to limit patients' narcotic painkiller use by speeding up their recovery time.
2. Patients on the pathway, which uses a multimodal pain management approach, use fewer narcotics in and out of the hospital. Patients a slight decrease in pain scores.
3. Drs. Tuason and McPartland are both board-certified pediatric orthopedic spine surgeons at Pediatric Orthopedic Associates in East Brunswick, N.J.
