Kansas surgeon, spine center settle sexual harassment lawsuit — 3 insights

Glenn Amundson, MD, a surgeon at Kansas City Spine and Sports Medicine Center, settled allegations that he sexually harassed and abused at least one female employee, the Kansas City Star reports.

What you should know:

1. The lawsuit alleged Dr. Amundson made inappropriate comments and touched a female medical assistant inappropriately on several occasions at the Overland Park, Kan., sports medicine practice.

2. The lawsuit was settled out of court, and details were not made publicly available. The case against Dr. Amundson and the practice were both dropped as a result of the settlement.

3. Kansas City Spine and Sports Medicine Center is affiliated with Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare. The woman who made the allegations initially named Menorah Medical Center, HCA Healthcare, HCA Midwest Comprehensive Care, HCA Human Resources and Dr. Amundson as defendants in the lawsuit.. She dropped the complaints against HCA Midwest Comprehensive Care and HCA Healthcare during litigation.
