Ogden (Utah) Regional Medical Center neurosurgeon Bryson Smith, MD, was arrested for allegedly groping an anesthetized patient during surgery, ABC affiliate KFOR reported July 30.

Dr. Smith, 65, was allegedly performing an anterior cervical decompression fusion on a female patient when he began making sexually charged comments, the report said. He then allegedly placed his hand on the patient's breast and "squeezed for approximately 1 to 1.5 seconds."

He allegedly then asked his team not to report him.

Dr. Smith was charged with two counts of sexual battery, the report said. He was taken to a county jail on July 28.
