Hospital for Special Surgery honor Dr. Frank Cammisa, 2 sports team owners

Spine surgeon Frank Cammisa, Jr., MD, and Brooklyn Nets and NY Liberty owners Joe and Clara Wu Tsai will be honored by New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery June 5.

Dr. Cammisa is being honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his work in the spine surgery industry, HSS said in a news release.

"Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Cammisa has been an international leader in clinical care, education and research," HSS president, surgeon-in-chief and medical director Bryan Kelly, MD, said in the release. "His pioneering efforts have advanced minimally invasive spine surgery and motion preservation techniques, bringing innovations to patients worldwide."

Mr. and Mrs. Tsai will recieve the 2023 Tribute Dinner Award for their philanthropy and investments in neuroscience and orthopedic care. 

"As philanthropists, the Tsai's are having a profound impact on the health and well-being of people globally through their investments in neuroscience and the science of human performance," HSS CEO Louis Shapiro said in the release.
