Self Regional Healthcare's South Carolina Spine Center in Greenwood is now treating spine surgery patients in a new advanced surgical operating room, which includes the Brainsuite iCT from Brainlab, according to a Brainlab news release.
Brainsuite iCT is a digitally integrated OR that combines image-guided surgery with multi-slice intra-operative computer tomography scanner and comprehensive OR data management. The CT has the ability to travel on rails over the OR table without waking the patient from anesthesia and provides real-time imaging and patient data services.
South Carolina Spine Center is the first institution in the Southeast to use this technology. Since the facility opened Brainsuite iCT in July, surgeons have treated more the 30 patients. In addition to the surgical equipment, Brainsuite provides access to the hospitals picture archiving and communications system in the OR.
The additional VectorVision sky navigation platform displays collected data during surgery and includes two infrared cameras to verify the patient's position in the OR.
