Numerous athletes, actors and musicians have undergone operations to treat spinal pain and injuries.

The following list of celebrities who have undergone spine procedures was compiled using information from Becker's Spine Review, ABC News, Global News and Peer Well:

Former "Dance Moms" star Abby Lee Miller underwent emergency spine surgery in April 2018 Hooman M. Melamed, MD, performed the procedure at Cedars-Sinai Marina Del Rey Hospital in Los Angeles.

Golfer Tiger Woods underwent spinal fusion surgery in 2017 to remove a large portion of a degenerative disc. Richard Guyer, MD, of Plano-based Texas Back Institute, performed the procedure.

Peter Mayhew, the actor who originally played Chewbacca in "Star Wars," underwent spinal surgery in 2018 to improve his mobility.

Harrison Ford, the actor who played Han Solo in "Star Wars," underwent a discectomy surgery to treat a disc herniation.

Actor George Clooney underwent spinal fusion surgery to treat a spine injury that was causing cerebrospinal fluid leak.

Actress Charlize Theron underwent microdiscectomy surgery after an on-set fall in 2005 ruptured discs in her lower back.

Bono, U2's lead singer, underwent emergency back surgery to repair a herniated disc and severe compression of the sciatic nerve in 2010.
