Spine surgeon Nitin Khanna, MD, and Franciscan Health in Mishawaka, Ind., are participating in a study on the long-term prognosis for patients undergoing micro decompression surgery for lumbar spinal stenosis, The Times of Northwest Indiana reports
Dr. Khanna's minimally invasive approach to micro decompression surgery results in minimal blood loss and can be performed in an outpatient setting.
As coinvestigator in the study, Dr. Khanna will evaluate how patients perform after surgery over the next five years.
Study participants should be between the age of 45 and 70 and have one level lumbar spinal stenosis with no evidence of instability or osteoporosis and no previous spinal surgery.
