Los Angeles-based Cedars-Sinai recently received a $1 million donation from the Ray Charles Foundation to develop a new neurosurgery scholarship program.
The Ray Charles Foundation Scholars Fund in Neurosurgery program aims to promote representation and support diversity in the neurosciences by helping train students from underrepresented backgrounds.
It will be spearheaded by Keith Black, MD, chair of the department of neurosurgery at Cedars-Sinai.
The program will accept one or two MD or PhD students each year, where they will receive mentored research training from the hospital's neurosciences faculty while engaging in their own research projects.
