William Meltzer, MD, an orthopedic sports medicine surgeon, died Oct. 27, according to a Chicago Tribune report. Dr. Meltzer earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois in Chicago's College of Medicine and went on to hone his orthopedic surgery training at Cook County Hospital and University of Illinois Hospital, both in Chicago. Dr. Meltzer also completed an orthopedic rehabilitation fellowship in California before serving in the Army and opening his own practice in Skokie, Ill.
In the 1990s, Dr. Meltzer joined the Chicago Bulls as a sports medicine consultant.
