Coastal Orthopedics in Conway, S.C., was founded in 1983 and recently celebrated its 30th year in practice.
James W. Yates Jr., MD, founded the practice in a mobile office outside the former Conway Hospital. Since then, the practice grew to occupy the entire third floor of the Medical Arts Building on the Conway Medical Center campus.
Dr. Yates treated more than 1,000 patients during his first year in practice and has been expanding ever since. The practice now offers on-site digital X-ray, DEXA bone density screening, electromyography testing and nerve conduction velocity testing. Coastal Orthopedics also opened its OrthoNow Clinic recently.
