Washington University School of Medicine Names Dr. Regis O'Keefe Orthopedic Department Head

Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis has named Regis James O'Keefe, MD, PhD, head of the department of orthopedic surgery, effective Oct. 1.

The appointment also makes Dr. O'Keefe orthopedic surgeon-in-chief at Barnes-Jewish and St. Louis Children's hospitals. He will come to St. Louis from the University of Rochester (N.Y.) School of Medicine and Dentistry, where he is the Marjorie Strong Wehle Professor in Orthopaedics and chair of the department of orthopedics and rehabilitation.

 

Dr. O'Keefe is an orthopedic oncologist and focuses on patients with tumors in bones, joints and soft tissue as well as musculoskeletal research. He has completed an orthopedic residency and research fellowship at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, followed by a fellowship in orthopedic oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
