Dr. Michael Brunet wins AOSSM's Thomas A. Brady Award: 5 quick facts

Orthopedic Sports Medicine

The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine named Michael Brunet, MD, winner of the Thomas A. Brady Award, according to a report by The Town Talk.

Here are five quick facts:

 

1. The annual award is given to an orthopedic surgeon dedicated to excellence in sports management at the local level.

 

2. Dr. Brunet practices with Mid-State Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Center in Alexandria, La.

 

3. He moved to Alexandria after the Institute of Sports Medicine at Tulane University in New Orleans, which he founded, was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.

 

4. He serves on the National Football League Players' Association Injury Panel and on the NFL Retirement Board.

 

5. He has completed fellowships — one in sports medicine at the Hughston Foundation in Columbus, Ga., and another in athletic medicine and hand surgery at the University of Virginia Hand Center in Charlottesville.
