Employees of the Andrews Institute for Sports Medicine and Orthopaedics evaluated 50 athletes with Special Olympics Florida on Aug. 4.
Here are three takeaways:
1. The evaluations consisted of balance and musculoskeletal evaluations and were customized for the sport the athletes competed in.
2. Jessica Langston, a certified athletic trainer, said she the evaluations were to ensure the athletes perform at their best in their respective sports.
3. The Andrews Institute provides athletic trainers for all the high schools in Escambia, Santa Rosa and Northern Okaloosa counties, but Langston took great pride in evaluating the Special Olympic athletes.
